WHY MODULAR?

We’re the superior plant and factory floor HMI and computing enclosure solution

With Modular, you can have all three:
Quality Build. Lower Cost. Speed.

There is a reason we’ve had the same Fortune 500 companies as customers for over 30 years. Our field-proven products last decades, are cost-effective, and satisfy operational needs quickly.

Modular’s specialized enclosures and HMIs have been exclusively built to withstand the challenges of plant floor, factory floor, and pharmaceutical production environments, so computers and peripherals maintain needed NEMA 4 /NEMA 4X /IP 69 protection.

Many of our standardized products have been left unchanged for decades. Some of our standardized product designs have been updated to meet the demands of thinner profiles and larger screens. All of our designs are 100% customizable.

Customizable

We partner with customers to ensure they have the best-fit solution. More times than not, that solution is a product we’ve already designed for a similar use-case and requires minimal customizations. In other instances, we build from the ground up, ensuring the enclosure solutions will fit customers’ exact environment, footprint and workflow.

Cost-Effective

Most factories and plants need to replace computer hardware and peripherals every five to seven years. Companies who go with an embedded industrial computer solution will pay up to six times what a comparable desktop ready computer costs. And, they are wedded to that hardware for a long time, not to mention the risk of long down times for RMAs. With Modular, industrial IT managers have a total lower cost solution, as well as the flexibility to upgrade or refresh their systems AT ANY TIME.

Faster Lead Times

Modular’s lead times are 50% of the buy-to-build time frame compared to embedded industrial computers. Customers provide any chosen off-the-shelf desk ready computing or existing print solution. This allows for very fast set up, solution approval, and field deployment with minimal downtime.

Advanced Support

The big, and little things matter. Advanced support means taking more than adequate time to decide on the best enclosure or HMI solution to pair with customers’ computing platforms. It means making sure enclosure placement is optimal, a gasket is tightened just right, and installation is no hassle. It means taking that call or making a site visit for any reason.

Long Warranty with Proven Durability

The five-year warranty that comes automatic with Modular’s product will far outlast any standard computer or peripheral warranty. Our NEMA 4 /NEMA 4X /IP69 rated products just don’t break under standard and intense industrial conditions. That’s why Modular’s enclosure solutions outlast multiple hardware refresh cycles.

Superior Product Overall

Modular is the “OG” of industrialized computing solutions that has never lost credibility. Systems administrators no longer need to worry about being stuck with outdated industrial computers. Now more than ever, Modular’s computing and industrial printing enclosure solutions are the best choice when designing industrial computing operations. When environmental needs such as NEMA 4 /NEMA 4X /IP69 are 100% solved for, it leaves flexibility to design highly adaptable edge, AI, and internal computing networks.

About Modular Industrial Computers

For some, the name can be confusing, because we don’t actually provide industrial computers. Our solutions transform regular computers into an “industrial computing solution”. At some point in time, we did provide embedded solutions but found them to be inadequate and not cost-effective for customers. Now, we exclusively provide HMIs and enclosures to protect computers and other electronic equipment. Modular’s NEMA 4 /NEMA 4X /IP69 computer and printer enclosures provide water, particulate, dust, temperature, chemical and in the case of Class 1 Division 2 electrical explosion protection.

Factory floor, plant floor and pharmaceutical processing decision makers across the U.S. rely on Modular to keep their production lines running in harsh environments. Our systems are in daily use at facilities ranging from large national producers to specialized regional manufacturers.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • No, we do not sell industrial computers. We sell the system that converts any computer hardware system to be industry, factory, and plant-floor ready. We’ve found the “Modular” approach (separating out the computer hardware from the enclosure and mounting systems) to be superior to traditional industrial embedded designs.

The Modular enclosure and mounting approach allow for ANY desktop ready computing system and peripherals to be used in demanding industry settings such as pharmaceuticals, food & beverage, automotive, and process manufacturing.

  • Our entry cost is significantly lower than large European and U.S. brands, while still delivering equal or greater durability. Engineers often find that our lifecycle cost is lower too, thanks to longer uptime and easier serviceability.

  • Customization is the foundation of our business; it’s not a side service like many in the industry. We don’t limit options to a small menu of add-ons.

Whether it’s enclosures, cable entry, I/O layouts, mounting, or entirely unique requirements, we adapt the build to the application. And because fabrication and assembly are done in-house, customization rarely adds the long delays seen with overseas vendors.

  • Instead of pre-defined cable entry points that limit flexibility, Modular’s compression gland system seals against dust, water, and chemicals while allowing field-ready flexibility in wiring. It’s a small detail that eliminates headaches during integration.

  • Whether it’s seafood processing, fertilizer, or chemical plants, we build hardware that lasts 5-7 years or longer in environments where competitors’ systems fail in 12 months. Stainless steel enclosures, sealed glands, and glove-compatible touchscreens are our specialty.

  • Yes. We regularly work with OEMs and system integrators to deliver:

    · Custom mounting and cutouts.

    · I/O configurations tailored to skid systems.

    · Reliable supply for long-term production runs.

  • Customers routinely report 5-7 years of operation even in corrosive or washdown-heavy facilities.

But in many cases, the service life goes much further. One customer replaced their Modular displays after 19 years, not because they failed, but because they wanted upgraded technology. That’s the difference between hardware designed for marketing specs and hardware designed for real industrial environments.

  • Global suppliers often quote 10-16 weeks for HMIs, displays, or enclosures. Even with customization, Modular’s U.S. based build process typically delivers in 3-6 weeks. That speed translates directly into reduced downtime and faster project rollouts.

  • Many engineers and purchasing agents worry about product discontinuation. Modular prioritizes continuity through sourcing components with stable lifecycles.

    · If changes are unavoidable, we provide drop-in replacements or redesigns that minimize revalidation costs.

    · Customers don’t get forced into refresh cycles every 2-3 years like they do with offshore suppliers.

  • Every Modular product carries a 5-year warranty which reflects our U.S. built quality. It’s one of the strongest warranties in an industry where 1-year and 2-years standard warranties are typical. Our guarantees are a key reason OEMs and end-users trust us.

  • All Modular systems are fabricated and assembled in the U.S. by skilled manufacturing teams. This not only ensures quality but also avoids global supply bottlenecks that slow down many competitors.
